Impact

This is my first album as the Black Stump Project.

It is a deeply personal collection of original songs that combine to tell a story about the impact of two major events in my life that occurred over a two year period.

The story begins with a recent tree change, which saw my wife Diana and I move away from 

living in the suburbs of Perth and climbing the corporate ladder, to a new life living in the 

splendid forests of WA's Southwest. This was an amazing time in our lives moving ironically

from urban isolation and competition to rural community and generosity.

The impact of this tree change however was to be overshadowed after only a short time. In July

2012 our son Ben was taken by a white pointer shark whilst surfing near Wedge Island in 

Western Australia. The loss of our dear Ben had a profound impact on our lives.

The music contained on this album expresses the Impact these changes had.

Changing Tracks is a shift from from the concept of our first album ‘Impact". Moving out in exciting new directions yet deeply rooted to stories of our first album. It’s stories speak to the themes of change, escape, ego, love and loss inspiration and nurture as well as desperation and hope. You can explore the songs in greater detail on our songs page.
